Jim Anderson

Jim is a partner at the East Palo Alto office of DLA Piper LLP (US). His legal practice is concentrated on transactional real estate work. When not at work or helping out with EHP, Jim spends time coaching local youth in basketball and wrestling. In addition, Jim has become an avid sports photographer and you will often find him on the sidelines at school and club sporting events. Jim serves as the board chair.
Byron Bland
Byron is a founding member of EHP and served as the first Chair of the Board of Directors. He is currently Associate Director of the Stanford Center on International Conflict and Negotiation (SCICN) and Research Associate at the Center for Democracy Development and the Rule of Law at Stanford University. For eighteen years, he was the campus minister for United Campus Christian Ministry at Stanford University.
Margaret Boles

Margaret Willis Boles, Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Palo Alto since 2010, received her undergraduate degree in music from Western Connecticut State College, a Master of Divinity from San Francisco Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry from Columbia Theological Seminary. She is an ordained Minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). In ministry, Margaret has worked in a variety of settings for more than three decades, and has enjoyed her participation in each community where she and her husband John have settled. Her community involvement has included membership in the Rotary, serving as a charter board member for Interfaith Hospitality Network, president of the board for Family Promise, coordinator of an interfaith conversation group, convener of an ecumenical clergy women’s group, and a participant in civic theater. Margaret is passionate about creating youth programs and youth service opportunities, and she is an outstanding advocate for developing leadership strength among the youth in the community. She is a strong believer in the transformative power of service for those who are involved in serving others. Margaret and John have lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Connecticut, Ohio, Texas and California. They have three children and four grandchildren. They enjoy the theater and love to travel.
Friederike Buelow
Ike (pronounced “eeka”) was born and raised in Germany and moved to the Bay Area with her family in 1987. A former language major at the University of Tuebingen, Germany, she received her B.S. in Human Services from Notre Dame De Namur University. Currently she co-chairs EHP’s Events Committee.

Chester Palesoo

Chester was born and raised in American Samoa, a territory of the United States of America. He has been in the human services field for over 25 years with a master’s degree and certified human services counseling background skills. He began his career in human services as an advocate and counselor with Job Train/OICW for 19 years, and currently is with API Consulting Network. He was an elected official on the Ravenswood City School District Board of Education for 12 years. An effective Pacific Islander leader, Chester lives and is actively engaged in the East Palo Alto community.
Andrew Perlman

Andy is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Innate Immune, Inc., a company dedicated to the discovery of new drugs for the treatment of asthma and other illnesses. Previously, Dr. Perlman has served as Executive Vice President at Tularik, Inc., a public biotechnology company; as Chief Executive Officer and a director of Affymax, Inc., a privately held biopharmaceutical company; as Senior Director of Clinical Research at Genentech, Inc.; and as a faculty member in the Department of Medicine at Stanford University. Andy received his M.D. and his Ph.D. in Physiology from New York University and a B.S. degree in Physics from MIT. Dr. Perlman was previously on the board of the Lester Conrad Medical Research Foundation and of the Human Growth Foundation.
Cindy Sauln

Cindy is a full-time Ph.D. student at the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology in Palo Alto. Before beginning this new journey, she served as an executive specializing in customer services and sales for several technology companies, including Veritas Software, DataCore Software and Digital Equipment Corporation. She is an active volunteer at EHP, for the InnVision/Urban Ministry in Palo Alto, Juvenile Hall in Santa Clara, and with her church. These days, when she is not studying or with her family, she enjoys yoga, walking, hanging out with her friends, and gourmet cooking. Cindy is the EHP board secretary.
Wendy Sinton

Wendy Sinton has lived in Palo Alto since 1984. She has been an active community volunteer in the schools, polling places, youth orchestra, senior programs, and serving meals to the hungry. She and her family have participated in EHP Holiday programs for many years. Wendy was the Career Counselor at Palo Alto High School. She helps to lead the board’s Events Committee.

Rosemary Steele
Rosemary Steele has lived and worked in East Palo Alto for the past 40 years. She recently retired from Job Train (formally known as OICW) as the Director of Corporate Relations, where she developed Corporate contacts, taught job search skills, provided career counseling, and placed hundreds of East Palo Alto residents in jobs. She is a respected member of the East Palo Altocommunity and has received numerous awards for her service. Rosemary has a degree in Human Services, and certification in Supervision and Volunteer Management, from UC Santa Cruz.
Anna Suarez

Anna is co-chair of the Development and Communications Committee for EHP. She is a high-technology marketing veteran and proven leader, industry expert and speaker in database marketing, marketing automation strategies and their implementation in business-to-business high technology environments. Her corporate experience includes several of the top technology companies including Cisco Systems, BEA, Oracle, VeriSign, and others.
Kurt Taylor
Kurt is an attorney in the Palo Alto office of Wilson Marshall & Taylor, where he serves as managing partner. Prior to founding his current firm, Kurt was a partner in the San Jose law firm of Hopkins & Carley where he led the Technology Group. Kurt works with a wide range of technology-driven companies in their financing, intellectual property, and transactional matters. He received his B.A. from U. C. Berkeley and his J.D. from Santa Clara Law School, where he also served on the Law Review. Kurt was founding director and President of the San Jose Chamber Orchestra; in addition, he also plays lead guitar and sings in a local rock and blues band playing fund raisers for schools and other charitable organizations.
